“We would like you to know that not only will your donation directly benefit the animals in our area but – through a sharing agreement between all SPCAs nationwide – a portion will be used in other, less fortunate areas to benefit animals over a wider area. We feel sure you will approve of this outreach initiative and wish to thank you most sincerely for supporting our SPCA and the movement generally.”

A bequest is a monetary gift or a gift in kind, provided for a nominated beneficiary in your will. The JSPCA depends solely on donations, sponsorships and bequests to do its work, as we receive no government or Lotto funding. So we ask you to consider us when you’re drawing up your will, as your bequest will help us to fund our work on an on-going basis.  Bequests enable us to continue rescuing strays, reuniting them with their families, and re-homing lost, abandoned and surrendered animals.

They also help us to rescue abused animals from terrible pain and suffering, and to treat them in our fully equipped Veterinary Hospital. They enable us to monitor illegal activities like dog and cock fighting, and to prosecute offenders. They make it possible for us to monitor the treatment of animals in farms, markets, laboratories, zoos, circuses and kennels, as well as in the wild.  Everything we do is made possible only by our committed and caring supporters.

By leaving a bequest to the JSPCA you will assist us not only to continue with our animal welfare and protection work, but also to educate children and communities about animal care and to change attitudes towards animals. The JSPCA’s Humane Education Programme teaches not only the right way to treat animals as, but also respect for all sentient beings, including fellow humans.

You may decide to leave any of the following to the JSPCA:

  • Your entire estate;
  • A percentage of your estate;
  • A specific sum; or
  • A specific item of value such as an item jewellery or property.
