Dogs and cats hear much better than humans do. Their ears can pick up sounds that we can’t even detect, which means fireworks are incredibly loud and painful for them. What sounds like a distant boom to us feels like an overwhelming explosion right next to their ears. The noise is so intense that it genuinely hurts and scares them.
